> Dr. Goran Bodegård
Dr. Göran Bodegard, of Stockholm, Sweden, is one of Europe's top Greyhound breeder-exhibitors. He began in dogs as a 13-year-old and handled his very first deerhound bitch to a ring championship.
In 1966 Dr. Bodegard began the Greyhound breeding program for which he is well known. He is co-founder of the nine-generation dynasty of Greyhounds that has dominated the Scandinavian show scene, producing important stud dogs and brood bitches and influencing the breed in both Britain and the United States. His co-bred bitch, Ch. Piruett, was Sweden's dog of the year in 1975.
Dr. Bodegard is an FCI all-breed judge who has judged at Crufts, FCI World Shows, and Australian Royal Agriculture Shows, and he has fulfilled BIS assignments on five continents. His U.S. assignments include the 2004 Irish Wolfhound national specialty.
Dr. Bodegard is president of the Swedish Greyhound Club and sits on the central board of the Swedish Kennel Club. He is a pediatrician, psychoanalyst, and child psychiatrist, involved in research and clinical work with seriously ill and disturbed refugee children from former Soviet republics.
